Guilty Pleasures – The Lure of Sleaze

I have to admit- I like this title.  And it ties into article marketing!  It occurred to me the other day, as I was perusing the online entertainment juggernaut that is EOnline, that these guys are popular for a reason.  Whether they know it or not, they're engaging in article marketing that works.  In fact, before we give them too much credit, the material they have to work with does make it easy for them, doesn't it?

It doesn't take a whole lot of spin to make someone else's train wreck of a life interesting. People love gossip.  The sleazier the better.  And someone way back when figured out how to make money by feeding us our daily requirement.  So good for the TMZs of the world!

I wish it were that easy for the rest of us.  If SEO and content marketing were as scintillating as the Kardashian's latest escapades, we'd all be beating off customers with a stick.  As it stands, we must rely on the quality of our content to capture our market.

It's within the power of a good seo writer to make any product or service attractive to potential customers, simply through the use of informational, well-written content.  We don't need to stoop to the level of those guys, the ones who pander to our base instincts, right?  Our clients don't need to know which celebrity went to jail today, or whose divorce is getting nasty.  They want to know how to solve problems, get answers and get things done.

Though I do wish sometimes that a juicy scandal would break out in the world of content marketing, just so I could write about.  I do.

Sorry!  OK, so take that, procurers of sleaze!  Article marketing can not only be interesting, but it also has the power to compel people to buy a product.  It can establish a company as an authority.  It can inform and entertain.  You guys are using it, and you probably don't even know it!

So anyway, does anyone know what's with Madonna, lately?  I hear there's something going on with her arms- starting to look weird...
