There are lots of article marketing guys out there and most of them do at least a passable job. But let's just go over the things that article marketers - guys or ladies - do that make your site stand out among the millions on the Internet.
1. It's well established that article marketing is an important weapon in your 
SERP's. That's because the open secret that the SE's don't hide is the need for high quality, relevant, back links. That is what gets you ranked highly and that, my friends, is what article marketing guys do.
2. They know how to submit to directories of blogs, forums, and articles to get you recognized.
3. They know who uses "do not follow links" and "follow links" to ensure that your marketing isn't wasted (that's for embedding your url in the text).
4. An article "guy" is a professional writer (or he employs them) who speaks clearly and succinctly.
5. They are versed in what is current in SE marketing and use all available tools. They know how to get those all important .gov and .edu back links.
6. They sing the benefits of your product or service.
7. Article marketing folks place content on your site that is readable, informative, and, if necessary, persuasive. This is probably the most important part of their tasks because people who visit your site must be assured that your product or service is worth their time.
An article marketing guy makes your life easier by ensuring that you are seen by the search engines as relevant (in fact - important) enough to make readers want to click the link back to your site, stay there, and then return again and again.
