Throw Away That Old College English Book

When it comes to content marketing on the web, the old rules just don't apply anymore.
Those Old , Forgotten Days
In the days of old (say 15 years ago), people still consumed information in a more formal environment - print newspapers, magazines, books, etc. Proper grammar, longer paragraphs, and a more formal tone was the dominant style.
The New Age
The web has changed how people prefer to read content. There's such a vast amount of information available and it's always just a few clicks away. People don't want to stay too long on any one page or website for too long. They know that one click of the mouse can lead them to yet another viewpoint and perspective on the same matter. One click and they're on your competitor's website reading about the same topic, or comparing prices.
What's a Site Owner to Do?
Businesses need to adjust to this new way that people read online.
Think short nuggets of information instead of long, drawn out paragraphs.
Think interesting conversation instead of boring lecturing.
... and always think "is this good enough that others will actually want to forward it to their friends?"
Remember the 3 C's of online content marketing:
Compelling
Clear
Concise
Compelling is always #1
