Content Marketing Weekly Wrap Up- Can You Hear Me Now?

Ah, yes. The Verizon guy. He used to endlessly walk around, asking people if they could hear him. Lately he's just been kind of lurking around in the background. I used to be irritated by him, until I caught myself asking "Can you hear me now?" while cruising through a "dead zone". Ugh!
Of course, the Verizon guy can always hear his calls, no matter where he is. Unlike me, who could take two steps to the left and lose reception completely. It makes me wonder, what does it take to get people to hear you? I guess standing in the right spot might help. But wouldn't it be better if people could hear you from wherever you are? Yes, that would be great!
The fact is, the shift from outbound to inbound marketing has given everyone the chance to be heard, if they learn how to utilize content marketing. The ability to write and distribute good content gives you an opportunity to position yourself where people can hear you, all the time. After all, the web is now social, and those who can connect are the big winners.
So, be sure to develop a content marketing plan that includes social media. But do your homework first. Some tips for successfully navigating the social web can be found in Aliza Sherman's "10 Golden Rules of Social Media". Before you can market to people, you need to understand how to effectively (and politely) communicate with them.

The same principles of human interaction that apply to face-to-face apply to the social web. So, start boning up on your social skills! In time, you may find yourself in the perfect spot from which to reach just about anyone you want to.
