Is It Time To Cash In On Your Blog Writing Skills?

Blog writing is a skill that can quickly parlay into a lucrative income.  Whether you write about the ordinary, common things in life like parenting, dieting, decorating or video games or tend toward more technical topics, there is an incredible amount of money to be made through blogging.

Years ago, blogs were a type of "online diary" where the writer simply wrote about the events of the day or shared stories and news.  In recent years, mostly due to the explosive growth of the Internet, blogs have become an essential marketing tool.  If you love writing and blogging, you can create a stable income source for yourself and your family.

Today, blog writing is a talent that offers many opportunities to make money.  From writing your own blogs and monetizing them through relevant ads and affiliate products to promoting your own products or writing for other businesses as a marketing tactic, blogging is a skill that you should not take for granted.  People are looking for a solution to their problems more often than entertainment; if you can offer real value and target needs/wants in a compelling way, you have only scratched the surface of your true potential.

What are some of the benefits of being a good blog writer?

  • You have the ability to attract targeted visitors because of the valuable and unique content you offer.  When you have the necessary skills to write in an engaging way, people will naturally flock to your blog.
  • Blogging involves effective writing above all else; when you have this skill, the income opportunities available to you are unlimited.
  • Blog writing is a highly sought-after talent today.  Nearly everyone with a business online knows that in order to build a successful, profitable business they need a great blog that offers their visitors valuable and helpful information.  Essentially, this means that you could get paid to write for an entire stable of blogs.
  • If you write in an engaging, convincing manner, you will attract an endless amount of traffic, which means that no matter how you are using your blog you will make more money.  You may be promoting your own information products, affiliate products or simply writing in order to send visitors to your main website.

Business owners want writers who are creative and engaging, because they know that with the right writer, traffic will increase and sales will skyrocket.  As a talented blog writer you will find that opportunities exist around every corner.

Blog writing can be considered a form of social media, since blogging involves a level of interaction.  When you write about a controversial subject or even one that isn't so controversial but the information is sought after, visitors to your blog will often leave comments.  Frequently, these comments are put in the form of questions about the topic you wrote about, which opens up a dialogue in which many people may get involved.

Speaking of social media, how does it help you if blog writing is your talent?

With over 500,000,000 members on Facebook today, using social media to put your talents in front of those who need them is easier than ever.  A huge number of businesses use sites like Facebook and LinkedIn; when you join these sites you have the opportunity to put your writing skills in front of those businesses.  On Facebook, creating a great profile and a few fan pages is essential.  Engage in the community.  With LinkedIn and Twitter, you can find groups to join that share your interests, thereby getting connected with like-minded people.

Blog writing is a skill that not everyone possesses.  If you are an engaging writer with a passion for what you do, there is a potential gold mine sitting right in front of you!

Blogging is kind of like social media 0.5. A step between the old guest books and social networks. And they're best used in connection with social networks - some successful blogs I know even shut down their comments and forced the conversation on to Twitter/blogs/Buzz/Facebook and so forth!
