10 Quick Tips for Creating Inspired Blog Content

We all know how important it is to have a business blog that's kept fresh and up-to-date. But sometimes the content seems to fall flat, or it's so much of a struggle to come up with content that the blog gets neglected.

Here are 10 quick tips for creating inspired blog content as part of a content writing strategy that will boost your business blog results:

  1. Review something. There are apps, books, events, and other things that relate to your business. Find something that would interest your blog's readers and write a quick review of it.

  2. Mine the blog's existing comments for ideas.  Your blog's readers are most likely asking questions or suggesting topics - and they don't know it. Use the comments they leave as springboards for new entries.

  3. Post an interview. Interview a thought leader in the field - perhaps someone even within your company. A well-formatted, thoughtful interview is content that will be shared and re-tweeted.

  4. Write a hero story. It doesn't have to be long, but talk to a client or customer that has had success with your company's product or service and write a case study on how you were able to solve the problem.  These "hero stories" are more than standard case studies; they read like a narrative and describe how the customer solved the problem (with your help, of course).

  5. Relate current events to business. There's always something going on, whether it's a holiday or something happening in the news. Put your business's spin on it as part of your content writing strategy.

  6. Research something and write about the results. If there's something you're passionate about that may interest your blog's readers, go ahead and write up what you've found.

  7. Respond to someone else's blog post. If you come across a blog post and you can write about the topic from a different point of view, it would present a fresh perspective to your readers.

  8. Use a trending topic on Twitter as fuel. Twitter is a great source for ideas. Your readers are most likely posting their problems, and if you snag the trending topic and write about it, you can solve their problems and increase your visibility by tweeting out your post under the trending topic.

  9. Write a how-to post. Take a question your readers have and break it down into step-by-step instructions. Everyone wants to learn something new, and if your content writing strategy can weave in how-to posts, you'll be answering reader questions and establishing yourself as a thought leader in your field.

  10. Sign up guest bloggers. This works two ways: find bloggers or people in your industry who would fit well with your company's message and ask them if they'd be interested in guest blogging. Chances are, they may want you to reciprocate, resulting in increased visibility. It's a win-win situation: you get fresh content, and you can also write something and get promoted on someone else's site.
